THE artwork on show in the Summer Open Exhibition at the Clock Tower Gallery, which has won accolades from patients, staff and visitors to the Northern General Hospital, will now be entered into a competition in which four winners will be given free gallery space for an exhibition next year.
Kerry Blackett, arts coordinator for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We have had a fantastic response to the competition with a vast number of entrants.
"Visitors, patients, volunteers and staff, who also encouraged fami
ly and friends to get involved. All had the opportunity to display artwork alongside professional artists, students, art groups and budding artists.
"We wanted to encourage freedom of expression so placed no constraints on theme or media and no restrictions on colour or size and this has produced an exciting display .
"The competition will give four budding artists a fantastic opportunity to win free gallery space for their own personal exhibition early in the New Year.
"The judges, who will include the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, will be looking for a vivid imagination, although their personal tastes will undoubtedly influence their decision."
