WE are family… Williams Brothers is supporting the 'sisters' of the city business community by sponsoring Sheffield Chamber of Commerce's Inspiring Women forum.
Williams Brothers (Sheffield) Ltd (trading as Williams Fasteners) is a leading UK supplier of industrial fasteners for the mining, mechanical engineering and construction industries.

Launched in September last year, Inspiring Women aims to help Sheffield's business community recognise and benefit from the passion, power and dynamism of women in industry.

The group hosts networking events and learning opportunities which offer value to businesses, as well as improving ratios of businesswomen and increasing their visibility within the city. Inspiring Women also hopes to undertake some mentoring and education activities in the near future.

Managing Director of Williams Brothers and member of Inspiring Women, Susan Battersby, said: "I heard about the group when I was at a networking event, so I put my name forward to become involved in founding the Chamber's new businesswomen's group.

"After a few meetings it was evident that the forum, which consists of some of the best businesswomen in Sheffield, had great ideas for improving the position of women in Sheffield businesses.

"However, without investment and the support of sponsorship, it would be difficult to hold events and activities that meant so much to the board.

"Therefore, for the initial start-up of this forum, I thought it seemed only right that the 'Brothers' should support the 'Sisters' by giving them the investment they needed…"

The board is chaired by Suzanne Liversidge, managing partner of Halliwells and Businesswoman of the Year, and consists of businesswomen including Sheila Quairney, business and enterprise manager for Sheffield Hallam University and Helen Rana, Sheffield Chamber's policy and representation manager.

Chamber head of business development Paul Reeves said: "We are delighted that an award-winning and proactive company recognises the value of investing in forums like Inspiring Women, which will help to drive forward and strengthen the city's business community."
