AN HISTORIC Sheffield landmark is being put up for sale at auction.
The Adelphi, on Attercliffe Road, which has served as a cinema, night spot and social club in its time, is one of the lots at an auction being run by Colliers CRE at the Magna Science Adventure Centre on May 22.

Land adjacent to the building, which opened as a picture house in 1920, showed films until 1967 and was the first home of Sheffield's Gatecrasher club, is also up for sale with the building.

Colliers CRE says the Adelphi and adjacent land offer the potential for an exciting new phase of regeneration which could dramatically change Attercliffe.

The firm's director and auctioneer, Simon Riggall, is expecting a good response to the auction, despite increased caution among developers and speculation that the property market is going to crash.

"There is a substantial housing shortage across the country and therefore demand for land sites with potential remains high, as the success of Colliers CRE's previous auction has showed. This has raised substantial amounts of money for local councils."
