CAPITA Construction Management – part of Capita Symonds - has been appointed by Aldgate Warehouse Limited to the first phase of the £16m 'Eden' development in Sheffield city centre.
The move follows the team's successful project and cost management of the mixed-use development's pre-construction phase.
The project comprises 193 residential apartments together with ground floor commercial use and basement car parking. Construc
tion will commence in May this year with the programme due to be completed early next summer.
Greg Boyd, Regional Director at Capita Construction Management, said; "Aldgate Warehouse has chosen the 'Construction Management' procurement route for the project. Consequently, we have adopted the OBN (open book negotiation) approach to package buying which means that Aldgate Warehouse will directly employ each specialist trade contractor while CCM supplies the management team to supervise them."
"Aldgate Warehouse has recognised that procurement in this fashion brings significant benefits to them in terms of costs and flexibility. With development markets constantly moving and fully accessible, high quality, residential accommodation being at a premium in Sheffield city centre, this flagship project will show that the company's new and innovative approach to construction delivery is the way forward," he adds.
lCapita Symonds has announced the acquisition of structural and civil engineering consultants NRM Bobrowski for an undisclosed sum.
NRM Bobrowski – which has offices in Sheffield, London and Southampton – will now be known as Capita Bobrowski.
