THE achievements of two of Sheffield Technology Park's most successful clients were recognised when the inaugural STP Business of the Year awards were announced.
Winner of the award, specialist electronic engineering and software development consultancy Drive Management Services Ltd (DMS), was founded in 2004 by Allan Findlow and Kevin Micklethwaite.
DMS combines electronic and wireless technology with rev
olutionary software developed in-house to provide a range of total asset management services and products.
The company moved to the Don Valley site in 2005 and has gone on to double in size, develop a client list that includes companies such as ABP, Premier Foods, Anglian Water and Warburtons Bakeries and to create a second spin-off company.
Announcing the award at STP's latest Inspiring event at the Millennium Galleries, Peter Wood, chief executive of STP, said, "Sheffield Technology Parks has a growing national and international reputation and these awards are one way we can help extend the profile of our clients.
"DMS has achieved impressive growth since 2005 and is a great example of a young company operating at the cutting edge of technology."
Allan Findlow, managing director of DMS, said: "STP have provided us with everything we needed – an excellent managed facility and enormously valuable business advice. Adrian Jackman-Smith, STP's business adviser, made a big difference in helping us obtain funding for our spin-off business.
"We're all delighted to have won this award – it is recognition for the whole team and a very pleasant surprise!"
Runner-up was Sugarcane Studio. Soon to become Sugarcane Creative, the business is one of South Yorkshire's fastest-growing marketing agencies, developing and delivering marketing plans, brand identities, corporate literature and websites.
The awards were presented by Andrew Barke, agency relationship manager of Google, who was guest speaker at the event.
