SHEFFIELD Technology Parks will add to its roster of high profile speakers in July when Andrew Barke, the Manchester based Industry Head - Agency of global internet giants Google, will speak to the city's entrepreneurs.
Focusing on 'Thinking Globally – How to Make the Most of the Internet' Andrew will be sharing his insights into the opportunities that the internet offers small businesses.
In 2007 almost 37 million people in the UK alone went online every month –
with 84% of them looking to make a purchase.
And with 20% of the world's population already online and the biggest internet growth coming from Africa and the Middle East, the opportunities are there for dynamic businesses to trade successfully almost anywhere in the world.
Karen Wood, Sheffield Technology Parks' Business Incubation Manager, said, "We are very pleased indeed that Andrew has agreed to speak at our latest event for young and growing businesses.
"There is no doubt at all that online trade is critical to any business success in the 21st century, and Google have been at the forefront of the development of that market.
"This is a rare opportunity to learn how to maximise the opportunities of the internet from a true expert, and I am sure that for some delegates it could even hold the key to worldwide success.
"Once again it goes to the heart of what Sheffield Technology Parks is about – delivering the best possible support for the dynamic young businesses of the city in ways that deliver real impact and genuine growth."
The event will take place at the Millennium Galleries on Tuesday 8th July 2008. Ticket details are available at www.shefftechparks.com.
