PRO-SHEFFIELD aims to make a splash with this year's annual dinner – among the guest speakers at the gala dinner at Sheffield City Hall on September 25 will be Olympic diver Leon Taylor.
Leon started diving when he was eight and just three years later was under-12 national champion. He won a silver medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and followed with a 2004 Olympic Silver medal in Athens. He has also won medals at all major champio
nships and is known throughout the sport for inventing the world's most difficult dive.
He will be joined at the top table by Dennis Turner, chief economist of HSBC Bank plc, an authoritative speaker on economic issues and a prolific writer of opinion pieces published by a wide range of industry websites and magazines.
A third confirmed guest speaker is Jon Sleightholme, who made a successful transition from professional rugby to the commercial world by becoming head of business development for a division of the Caudwell Group. He is now Managing Director of Rugby for Careers After Sport and spends time in person as a career coach, working with professional rugby players planning their future careers.
Pro-Sheffield's Ben Sequerra said: "This is my first annual dinner as chief executive and I wanted to make it informative, relaxed and with some high profile speakers.''
