Sheffield-based Bio UK Fuels Limited has become the first company to offer householders in Yorkshire and Derbyshire the means of producing their own environmentally-friendly biodiesel for just 30p a litre.
Since Bio UK Fuels was set up two years ago the company has manufactured biodiesel from waste cooking oil and continues to sell directly to the public from its base on the Newhall Industrial Estate.

Now, the company has also been appointed one of
only ten UK distributors of a domestic processor manufactured by Europe's largest biodiesel equipment supplier, Green Fuels Limited.

The safe, reliable and easy to use FuelPod produces 50 litres of biodiesel daily from waste cooking oil, which is available for collection free of charge from wide ranging catering outlets, with the chemicals required to complete the production process supplied by Bio UK Fuels at minimal cost.

The FuelPod's dispensing system allows the finished fuel to be pumped directly into any diesel vehicle.

The FuelPod, which has been developed to comply with stringent health and safety regulations and can be positioned in any exterior building such as a garage, can be bought for less than £3,000, with free training provided by Bio UK Fuels.

A 100 litre capacity FuelPod for heavier fuel users is also available from the company. The substantial savings in fuel costs which the FuelPod brings means that the initial outlay can be recouped within as little as two years, after which costs are negligible.

Bio UK Fuels is also offering the FuelPod at a ten day rental of £150, to allow householders to 'try before they buy', and holding weekly demonstrations.

The company says biodiesel is a road legal fuel which is not only safe to use in any diesel vehicle without modification but also brings major environmental benefits.

It is safe, biodegradable, non-toxic, carbon neutral and, with 80 per cent lower emissions than mineral diesel, reduces pollution. The waste cooking oil used in its manufacture would otherwise go to landfill and up to 2,500 litres can be produced in the home without attracting road fuel duty.
