Senior partner says farewell with final deal
ONE of Sheffield's most prominent conveyancing experts is retiring after 37 years at Taylor&Emmet Solicitors, but not before he completes a final case for his very first client.
Taylor&Emmet senior partner, Peter Blower is bringing his career to a close by completing a last property transaction for long-standing client, Peter Booth.
To mark the end of his career, Peter Blower presented Peter Booth with a framed, limited edition Joe Scarborough print of a painting depicting the 150-year history of Taylor&Emmet, which was specially commissioned by the firm last year.
Peter Blower, said: "When I started work at Taylor&Emmet there was 24 staff, including partners. Now, more than 175 people work here. The firm has grown and adapted to changes in the industry, but retained the same values and ethos, offering a friendly environment for employees and visitors alike and an efficient, good value service."
Peter Blower carried out his first conveyance for Peter Booth in 1971, while on a training contract at Taylor&Emmet and during his career at the firm, the two have become good friends. Peter Booth, who runs Sheffield-based business consultancy, CQM Training and Consultancy Ltd, has instructed Taylor&Emmet on a variety of legal matters over the years, including a recent management buy-out.
Peter Booth added: "Taylor&Emmet has always been a helpful, approachable firm and it is these qualities, along with my friendship with Peter, that have ensured my continued support as a client. Peter's shoes will be tough to fill and Sheffield's business community will miss him sorely. I would like to thank Taylor&Emmet for their kind gift and wish Peter a long and happy retirement."
Peter Blower intends to spend his retirement travelling and playing golf. He will still be keeping a keen eye on the property market, although it will now be on a more personal basis, as he turns his attention to his own investments.
Anthony Long, Taylor&Emmet's chief executive, said: "On behalf of everyone at Taylor&Emmet, I would like to extend our thanks and good wishes for the future to Peter.
"He has been an invaluable member of the team for the best part of four decades and has played a crucial role in the firm's development. It has been an absolute pleasure working with him."
