IT'S been an interesting week sat in the Steelers' dressing room.
Normally at this time of year, guys start talking about the summer holiday plans and their thoughts on where they will be next season.
However, in our room, all we're talking about is beating Edinburgh on Saturday, going into the Play-offs with so
me momentum and lifting a trophy that we honestly think we deserve.
I read an article this morning from Randy Dagenais in which he said that he was fed-up with the Steelers being bridesmaids, referring to the fact that we have finished second in both the Challenge Cup and the League.
I couldn't agree with Randy more. We certainly feel that the Challenge Cup was stolen from us and after hitting 80 points in League play, can't believe that the Championship didn't head in our direction as well.
This team is good enough to win and deserves to win a trophy, and I hope it reassures the fans that whilst the Play-offs don't start until next Friday, all of the players are already in Play-off mode and take in Saturday's game against Edinburgh as seriously as a Play-off game.
That's what impressed with our boys last weekend. Two home games against two teams battling for third spot when we could have just rolled over as the game meant little to us on paper. However, our personal pride and character stood up to both the Giants and the Panthers and we ended up denting them both with a four-point weekend. I'm sure not many teams would have played as hard as we did under similar circumstances .
As soon as the season is over I will turn my own attentions to talking with Dave Matsos about next season.
I am confident that Matty and I will be able to work a deal out; I enjoy playing for him as a coach and I love playing here in Sheffield and I'm sure we will be able to iron a deal out quickly over a pint and a sandwich.
