We Are Together (Cert PG)

British documentary maker Paul Taylor's We Are Together (Cert PG) covers three turbulent years at the Agape School for Aids orphans in South Africa.
The children escape from the hardships of life by singing in an a capella choir and there is great excitement when they get the chance to go to Britain for a fund-raising concert.
But the trip is abruptly cancelled and then their school burns down. They go on singing defiantly and eventually get to perform in New York alongside Alicia Keys and Paul Simon.
Music is always liable to stir the emotions of a film experience and there is plenty of that in We Are Together, especially in the story of 12-year-old Slidile and her brother, dying of Aids, whose sense of hope is humbling and helps to make this such an uplifting film.
