A CELEBRATION of the life of music teacher, composer and performer John Shaw takes place at St Mark's Church, Grenoside on Saturday, September 20.
A singer in choral groups like the Sheffield Oratorio Chorus, conductor of such bodies as Grenoside Male Voice Choir and choirmaster at St Mark's, Grenoside, John died in January at the age of 81.

Following his death, offers to contribute musicall
y at his funeral were so great that most had to be declined.

However, it raised the idea of this concert from people John was associated with largely performing music by and arranged by him.

Oratorio Chorus members, St Mark's Choir, Bingley Seat Singers, Firshill Singers and Grenoside Singers are among them and the music includes individual vocal, organ, piano and violin music.

It starts at 7.30pm and admission is free with a retiring collection in aid of charities that John supported.
