MEMBERS of the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus have a date at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Friday, September 12, the penultimate night of this year's BBC/ Henry Wood Proms.
Thirty-six of them join the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus in a performance of Beethoven's Choral Symphony under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda, who conducts the BBC Philharmonic.

The performance is a sort of public dress rehearsal for the three-dozen Phil members as they will join the full chorus to sing the work again 15 days later with the same conductor and orchestra on September 27 at the opening concert of 2008-09 Sheffield International Concert Season at the City Hall.

Two of the soloists are the same as well, mezzo soprano Jane Irwin and baritone Iain Paterson.
