After three years in the Paxton Suite, John Savournin's Charles Court Opera is promoted to the Opera House stage this Sunday with its production of Pirates of Penzance in the G&S Festival in Buxton.
Something to do with the young Sheffield baritone securing the services of Richard Suart (Major General Stanley), Jill Pert (Ruth) and Bruce Graham (a policeman) perhaps?

Made up of young professional performers, CCO's three-year history includes a Mozart and Rimsky-Korsakov opera stagings, Britten's Noye's Fludde and The Turn of the Screw with Jane Manning, no less.

Barnsley tenor David Menezes is Frederic and John the Pirate King, as well a directing the show which is choreographed by another Sheffield exile, Holly Strawson.
