Are you a cook?
I wouldn't refer to myself as a cook. I can do the basics but anything more adventurous than a spag bol, I'll leave to the restaurants. I used to enjoy cooking as a child and watched my mum all the time but it doesn't seem to have paid any dividends.

Any cooking tips?
Always have a back-up! I try and cook from recipes but it's always handy to have a tried and tested meal ready for when things don't quite go according to plan.

What's your favourite dish?
I love stews and roasts and my particular favourite is roast beef with roast potatoes which are drowning in gravy.

And a drink to go with it?
My favourite juice is pineapple and coconut, so I guess that would be it.

Your favourite restaurant in the Sheffield area?
My two favourites are the Aagrah in Leopold Square and Thyme Café in Broomhill. The Aagrah does the best curry I've ever eaten and Thyme Café is a classic example of simple food cooked really well.

And pub?
I love the Cricket Inn at Totley because it does the same food as Thyme Café. As for a pub to sit in and chat with friends, I like the Cobden View in Crookes – it's small, cosy and welcoming.

What's the worst meal you've ever had?
One I cooked myself, funnily enough. I made chicken nuggets and chips for me and a friend and I hadn't cooked the nuggets properly, so they were all gooey inside.

And the best?
The best meal I've ever had in Sheffield was crispy pork and mash at the Walnut Club in Hathersage. It was so good that I kept going back every week for months…

Your favourite TV cook?
I really enjoy River Cottage with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall but mainly because he's an unconventional cook. For more manageable cooking tips and recipes I turn to Jamie Oliver.

What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?
If you know Sheffield well you can always find a really good place that does the type of food you want. The difficulty is that they are spread across the city, which can be a problem if you are relying on public transport.
