An inspector calls at new boutique hotel
THE opening of the Peak District's first boutique hotel proved perfect timing - when the first guest revealed herself as an AA inspector.
The inspector was impressed with the new-look Maynard at Grindleford and awarded the hotel's second AA rosette as a result. The hotel has ten luxury bedrooms, individually styled by Oulsnam Design of Bakewell.
The Maynard also has a new head chef. Ben Hickinson from Hathersage is beginning to make his mark on the menu.
Director Paul Downing said: "Ben is a local lad and a great influence on the rest of the team in the kitchen. For him to be able to command two rosettes at such an early stage in his career, and only just after taking over at the helm, is an incredible achievement."
