Big choice of cask ales

MORE than 180 different cask ales are now of offer in Sheffield pubs, according to the annual beer census carried out by members of the Campaign for Real Ale.
With some returns still outstanding, the total stood at 184, ranging from bitter and mile to stout and porter.

The survey revealed that:
• The most common beer is Sheffield-brewed Abbeydale Moonshine
• The brewery with most outlets in Sheffield is Greene King
• The cheapest pint was Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Bitter: £1.32 at the Old Mother Redcap, Bradway
• The most expensive pint was Abbeydale Last Rites: £5.25 at the Rising Sun, Nether Green
• The average price of a pint of real ale in Sheffield is £2.33.
