SPORTS bar Champs, which blazed a trail on Ecclesall Road more than a decade ago, has been bought by businessman and brewery boss Jim Harrison.
Champs, opened in 1995 by real ale champion Dave Wickett, was a trendsetter with its TV-lined bar, restaurant and sporting memorabilia.
Under new ownership, it will retain its identity on a basis of "evolution, not revolution" - including, naturally, a greater choice of real ale.

Harrison runs a number of food and drink-related businesses, including award-winning Thornbridge Brewery, from his Thornbridge Hall home, near Ashford in the Water.

Wickett's Fat Cat pub and Kelham Island Brewery will be unaffected.
