THE Banner Cross has become the first pub in Sheffield to win a Beautiful Beer award for the quality of its beer and cellar management.
Landlord Roger Pepper, who was presented with the plaque last night, said: "We pride ourselves on the quality of our products, so it's great to receive this external recognition." The pub scored 98 points out of 100.

Assessor Martin Hill said: "It takes two hours to carry out a Beautiful Beer assessment, so it's very thorough and the pub has to meet very high standards to pass it. Roger and his team should be proud of their achievement."
