A LITTLE known green space in Broomhill will be brightened up over the next few weeks.
Tree, bulb and wildflower planting will take place in Victoria Park, Parkers Lane, over the next couple of months.

Friends of Victoria Park and the Broomhill, Central and Nether Edge community forester have been working hard to improve the park re
cently.

The friends and local councillors will be planting rowan and hazel trees tomorrow as part of the council's pledge to plant 5,000 new trees across the city this year.

And children from Broomhill Infants School will help plant spring bulbs and wildflowers on the site next Monday.

Coun Shaffaq Mohammed, Sheffield Council cabinet member for environment, said: "It is a wonderful example of the council working with the community to deliver a scheme that will enhance the local area."

Improvements have already been made to the boundaries and entrances of the site, paths have been resurfaced, grassed terraces and new furniture installed. Local artist Michael Johnson has worked with the friends group to develop features for the entrance that will help raise the profile of the park.
