To take your rubbish to the tip, all you need to do is turn up with your car full, and empty it into the appropriate skip.
However, like a lot of people I like to keep my car clean and therefore have a trailer for this purpose. This cuts down the number of trips I need to make.

I fill it with the usual garden rubbish, bits of DIY and other recyclables over a period o
f two or three weeks.

To take my trailer to the tip I then have to ring the council, and answer the following questions - name and address, make of car, registration number, colour, any markings on the car and then list the rubbish, eg garden rubbish, old carpet, some rubble, bits of wood, glass, plastic, tins, etc.

Is the rubbish from my property? When do I want to go ( day and time)? How many trips? Telephone number?

The council then send a fax to the tip, the people at the tip then reply to the council who telephone me to give me permission. What a complete and utter waste of time and money. The reason given for this is to stop traders using the tip. Traders could be refused entry at the gate without going to all this trouble. No wonder people are fly tipping.
