THANK you for publishing my letter regarding Pinstone Street.
As your article on page 8 correctly indicates, the 'Pepper-pot' is not the only demolition: the Athol Hotel and the Charles Street elevation of 88-92 Pinstone Street, a vital part of this imposing and picturesque building, will also be lost, and Char
les Street will be extinguished.

In their place, application 08/03377/ REM proposes a striking and unusual building filling the space between Pinstone, Cambridge and Cross Burgess Streets. The drawings show something startlingly different to anything seen in Sheffield before, utterly unlike anything in the outline application, and perhaps unique.

Can it reconcile the old and new? Is it treasure or travesty? Prodigious or pretentious? I would dearly love the Telegraph to publish images, especially of the Pinstone Street elevation, and to read the views of other correspondents.
