I AM very sorry to see at last the demise of the Tinsely Cooling Towers.
My grandfather worked in the power station and I have very fond memories of them.

Despite the efforts of many people and being a winner in the Channel 4 big art project, after this weekend the towers will be no more.
I hope that the piece of art
promised by them actually materialises and is a worthwhile replacement. We can but wait and see.

I enclose the final picture I took of the towers from Wincobank Hill which won the Gold Award in the Iconic Sheffield section of this year's Lord Mayor's Sheffield in Bloom photographic awards.

I think this shows the place that the towers have in the hearts and minds of the people of Sheffield.
