BEFORE we all get too excited about the announcement that Chris Mallaband has been named as principal designate of Parkwood High (25 July) remember what happened at Sheffield Park Academy.
The staff and parents backed the move to become an academy with the understanding that Andy Gardiner would be the principal.
How foolish we were!

Before the academy had even opened this had changed and he was only to lead it for a year - and th
at under an executive director.

Since then the school has had two heads - as has its sister school Springs Academy. New facilities are great, but with the current turnover of staff, the students are not getting the continuity they deserve. So parents, don't vote on the academy purely on having Mr Mallaband as a leader.
