Proper rewards for our teachers

I AM writing to note that the largest educational establishment in the city was closed to students for one day this week.
The Sheffield College was closed due to the on-going national dispute between teaching staff and, our paymasters, the Association of Colleges.
As outlined in the Sheffield Economic Masterplan, the future of Sheffield depends on the creation of higher skills levels. This will only occur if teaching staff are properly rewarded for the essential motivating, educational and training role they continue to undertake.
Teachers in both schools and colleges face heavy workloads, growing administration and bureaucracy, yet are expected to live on a shrinking purse. Yet again, they have been offered a pay increase which fails to match inflation.
