I READ with interest Graham Wroe's letter in the Telegraph (August 8).
I totally agree that to install barriers/gates within the station would be an end to free movement in and around the station.

Passengers are not to blame for ticket collectors not venturing out of their cabins in the early morning rush!

I am
a frequent traveller between Dore and Sheffield, quite often catching the Manchester-Sheffield or Liverpool-Norwich service. During the course of the last seven days I have only seen the ticket inspector twice!

This morning, on a not-so-busy service to Norwich, the ticket inspector immediately retired to his cabin after letting on passengers at Dore.
The solution is easy – more staff or staff who can be bothered walking through the train to collect fares.
