I HAVE been travelling to Sheffield by rail from London on average every two weeks for over two and a half years.
During this time I have observed the station area redevelopment. The station itself and the open area in front are good pieces of work.

However, the station vehicle approach is an unmitigated disaster. In a country littered with botched designs, this one is certainly in the top ten.

I read in your issue of 22 February a letter from Chris Wells suggesting a fix via his blog.

It is not ideal. Ideal would be a complete rethink of the whole situation, however his suggestion would be a huge improvement for relatively little rework.
Still nothing has been done.

Sheffield is a fine city with many business and social assets. The station is a key access to the city. Why 'spoil the ship for a ha'pworth of tar'.
Something has to be done.
