WHILST it is laudable for Neil Herron of Parking Appeals to fight for the unwitting motorists who are caught out in strange localities by poor signage, hidden cameras etc, the Hillborough tram gate is a different situation altogether.
I live on the south side of the city and never use Hillsborough Corner but was well aware, through articles in you paper, that restrictions were put in place and that after a time motorists would be fined for going through it.

I assume Mr Bangert, one of the affected motorists, lives in that area and would be well aware but just chose to ignore it several times and hide behind technicalities. He probably has a Sat Nav and blindly follows what it tells him and takes the shortest route.

Luckily he is doing the right thing in passing any refund to charity. I hope other offenders will do the same.
