The launch of the herd of Sheffield was celebrated at speed when more than 70 Accelerate runners raised funds for the Children’s Hospital Charity.
The runners raised a fantastic £187 with a fun evening event in as they chased the herd.
Armed with trail maps and using the hashtag #gathertheherd, the Accelerate runners attempted to visit as many elephant sculptures as possible, taking plenty of ‘selfies’ along the way.
“The elephants really caught our attention,” said Accelerate co-owner Stuart Hale, who added: “We bobbed into town, bought a trail map and decided that there was definitely an orienteering challenge to be done. “We pencilled out a rough route, publicised our plans on social media and the response was really great. “We’re planning to repeat the whole route nearer to the end of the trail. It’s just really good fun!”
Runner Colin Perkins added: “I go to the Wood Run that Accelerate organises every Thursday morning.
“The elephant run helped a great cause for a fantastic local hospital. It was a brilliant way to see 45 of the herd elephants. We got some great reactions from the Sheffield Friday night town goers. I only missed out on one elephant selfie on the whole route – as my phone overheated.”
Artfelt is The Children’s Hospital Charity arts programme and aims to make the clinical more comfortable by transforming the walls of the children’s hospital and bringing creative workshops to the wards.
