Accused 'feared for his life'
A FORMER girlfriend of a Sheffield man accused of conspiracy to murder following a drive-by shooting has told a court he feared for his life after the gun attack.
The woman, who cannot be named, told Sheffield Crown Court she was in a relationship with 27-year-old Tobias Thompson, of Jenkin Road, Brightside, at the time of the shooting of 22-year-old James Kamara last July.
She said he had attended a barbecue at her home that night and she did not notice anything wrong, but in a phone call the following day he told her his name had been "brought up in something".
She said he sounded "confused and worried".
Mr Kamara was shot dead on Brunswick Street, Broomhall, following an alleged feud between two warring postcode gangs.
He was caught in a hail of bullets by a gunman leaning out of the window of a car.
Thompson's ex-girlfriend said four days after the shooting Thompson told her he had "heard rumours" that people were "after him".
Thompson is accused of conspiracy to murder along with Aaron Storey, 21, of Standish Close, Shirecliffe, and Barrington Broomfield, 21, of Oxford Street, Upperthorpe, which they all deny.
Thompson's cousin Marcus Thompson, 31, of Bowfield Road, Firth Park, is accused of murder on the basis that he organised the shooting - which he denies.
