Sheffield endurance swimmer Anna Wardley has completed the third stage of her Five Island Swim Challenge with a 41-mile circumnavigation of Jersey in the Channel Islands.
Anna, aged 37, who comes from Bradfield, completed the swim in 11 hours, 53 minutes and five seconds.
Last year she ticked off the first two of the five islands - Dragonera off the coast of Majorca and Portsea Island, near Portsmouth.
Jersey was much more demanding, in an unseasonably cold sea and negotiating strong currents
Afterwards, Anna said many messages of support gave her a “brilliant lift” when there was a risk that she might get beaten by the tide.
She added: “When I’m training and during the swims, when it’s really hard to keep going, this massive feeling of achievement is what drives me on.”
Next, in August, is the Isle of Tiree in the Inner Hebrides, and finally, in September, the Isle of Wight.
Anna, who now lives in Gosport, Hampshire, is raising funds for the Samaritans, Sail Africa and the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
