AT the age of 51, a Sheffield bodybuilder is aiming for the Universe after being crowned Mr Great Britain.
Grandfather Nigel Cox, who lives in Norton, scooped the biggest accolade of his career when he won the contest organised by the National Amateur Body Builder’s Association.
It brings automatic entry to the Mr Universe contest in November. He came fifth last year.
The building company owner will be in training for his “dream” even when he goes on holiday to Greece this summer. “In preparation for the Mr Great Britain I was on a high protein diet, mainly tuna, chicken and turkey. I’d have about one day a week when I didn’t train. I’ll still train when I’m away. I’ll find a gym and do some work like I do here.”
Nigel has no intention of giving in to age. “It’s more of a novelty when you get older. In your 50s you’re almost expected to have a beer belly. You definitely have to watch your diet more. I like waking up and looking like this every morning. I couldn’t imagine not having the muscles.”
