A baby group which faced closure along with a Sheffield library has been saved thanks to volunteers.
Numbers dwindled at the Baby Time group, which met at Stannington library, after the council announced it would be relinquishing control.
The meetings looked set to close after its last meeting until two mothers stepped in to save them.
Teachers Charlotte Sturridge and Sue MacPherson worked with the STAND community group, which is taking over the running of the library from the end of the month.
The first of the new session is on October 2 from 2.15pm to 3pm.
Rosemary Telfer, library volunteer manager, said: “Baby Time is an ideal activity in a community library such as Stannington’s. The management group salutes Charlotte and Sue for volunteering to take it on and make it work. “We will also have a weekly toddlers’ session every Wednesday afternoon, and a number of adult reading groups.”
