Be the first to see Charlie and Lola's kitchen table

CHILDREN'S favourites Charlie and Lola are gearing up to take Sheffield by storm and the hunt is on for one young fan to star in a mini-film from inside their special exhibition before it opens to the public.

Imagination, interaction, princesses and pesky rats are top of the agenda when the brand new exhibition focusing on the work of author and illustrator Lauren Child arrives at Museums Sheffield: Weston Park.

Visitors will be able to sit at Charlie and Lola's kitchen table to make meals with food from their fridge, dress-up in the siblings' favourite outfits including Lola's famous alligator costume, visit Grubby Alley where That Pesky Rat lives and perform puppet shows in a theatre created from the four poster bed in The Princess and The Pea.

Green Drops and Moonsquirters: The Utterly Imaginative World of Lauren Child is open from October 9 but Kids Zone is offering one youngster, and his/her family, the chance to be the very first person to see the exhibition in Sheffield.

Our winner will star in a special video, which will be published on our website, telling the world what they liked best about the displays, trying all the exhibits out and giving their own unique guide.

The VIP winner will also get a collection of Lauren Child books to take home with them.

Lauren Child's best-selling books have been captivating children and their parents for almost 10 years. They include the hugely successful Charlie and Lola as well as Clarice Bean, That Pesky Rat and Hubert Horatio Bartle Bobton-Trent.

Green Drops and Moonsquirters is the first ever exhibition to bring the popular books to life. It is aimed at under 7s and their families.

Lauren said: "It's a great exhibition with some wonderful scenes so children feel they're actually walking into a book. I hope it will appeal to the whole family and aspiring illustrators too."

To enter our Kids Zone competition all you have to do is tell us which Lauren Child story is your favourite and why.

Send entries to staronline@sheffieldnewspapers.co.uk or Nancy Fielder, Editorial, The Star, York Street, Sheffield, S1 1PU.

The closing date is Friday October 3, the winner must be available to visit Weston Park and star in the video from 5pm on Wednesday October 8 and make sure you get your parent or carer's permission to enter.
