BROOMHALL SHOOTING: Armed police outside hospital to guard surviving victims
ARMED police were placed on guard outside the hospital rooms of the three surviving victims of the Broomhall shooting.
The officers were dispatched to the Northern General Hospital to prevent further attacks on the three gang members who survived the drive-by shooting which claimed the life of a fourth member of their crew.
The officers were preventing anyone but medics and police from getting close to the surviving gang members after the shooting on Brunswick Street, Broomhall, at 6.30pm on Wednesday.
All three were injured - one of them seriously - in the drive-by shooting which rocked residents enjoying a sunny evening in the suburb on the edge of the city centre.
Residents said they heard a number of gunshots ringing out before emergency services began arriving to treat the casualties and cordon off the crime scene and surrounding streets. All the streets are now open to the public again.
Armed police were also patrolling Broomhall and guarding the crime scene yesterday with their guns clearly visible.
While scenes of crime officers combed the crime scene and surrounding streets for forensic evidence armed police were ready to respond to any further incidents, prevent revenge attacks and reassure worried residents.
