BROOMHALL SHOOTING: The seventh gun death in as many years
THE Broomhall murder is the seventh fatal shooting in the city in the last seven years.
In October 2007, 16-year-old Jonathan Matondo, of Verdon Street, Burngreave, was blasted in his head in Nottingham Cliff recreation ground, Burngreave.
Nobody has been convicted.
In March 2007 taxi driver Younis Khan, aged 53, of Abbeyfield Road, Pitsmoor, was shot dead in his cab.
The innocent dad was killed in an execution ordered by brothers David and Ashley Cohen, who were the two main players in the Upperthorpe Crew. The shooting was carried out in revenge after Mr Khan's son was said to have crossed the brothers.
In June 2006 former drug dealer Ibrahim Ilyas, 20, of Pitsmoor, was gunned down in a city drug war.
And on New Year's Day 2003 Lester Divers, 32, was executed outside his home in Walkley.
He was the leader or a prominent member of a criminal gang in Sheffield which dealt in hard drugs.
In December 2002 dad-of-seven Gerald Smith was blasted in the head in a drive-by shooting as he stood outside the Afro Caribbean Club on Spital Hill, Burngreave.
He was in the wrong place at the wrong time, having no connection at all with the nine Nottingham men who travelled to the city to kill after one of their gang was robbed in a city takeaway.
The seventh victim was a 17-year-old who died in Spital Street, Burngreave, a year ago.
