Trained chef Libby Carl is enjoying the sweet taste of success thanks to her own artisan chocolate business.
And now she is offering to share her skills with other chocoholics, after taking over new workshop premises inTempleborough.
Libby, originally from Gleadless, studied hospitality at catering college and initially worked as a commis chef .
After a spell front-of-house, she went back to Sheffield College to learn patisserie and confectionery: “I missed being in the kitchen,” she says.
Libby completed a two-year course in 10 months and during that time realised chocolate was her passion.
So she drew up a business plan, used a start-up grant to buy a tempering machine and launched Cocoa Chic a year ago, making a range of chocolate products, novelties and gifts which she sold at local farmers’ markets.
Libby worked from her parents’ kitchen until moving into her own premises a few weeks ago. Now she is able to expand production – and also launch a range of workshops and hands-on sessions, from children’s parties to specialist workshops.
