Climbing film award
A DOCUMENTARY celebrating the life of Sheffield climbing hero and international artist Andy Parkin has been voted best film at Sheffield Adventure Film Festival.
A Life in Adaptation was shot over two years, aiming to reflect the full spectrum of Parkin's achievements. Its co-producer is Dominic Green of Sheffield-based Weekday Productions. Well-known among the UK climbing community, Dominic trained at Sheffield's Northern Media School.
"Our film was a very special collaboration between film-makers and artist," he said. "This enabled us to create a result that gave deeply personal insights to Andy, his life and achievements."
A Life in Adaptation won the Jury's Special Prize in the recent Kendal Mountain Film Festival, which earned it a place in ShAFF's 2009 line-up.
