ROOP Mullins, head of Doub7e Seven events, lives in Millhouses with wife Helen, son Isaac and dog Archie. A specialist in supplying bands, speakers and entertainers, he is one of three judges for the Sheffield's Got Talent competition at the Walnut Club, Hathersage, on Tuesday, November 17.

Are you a cook?

As an events organiser I'm lucky to have meals cooked for me at functions around the country. My poor wife cooks just about every meal at home – she's such a star!

Any cooking tips?

Add salt to your toast before dunking in your boiled eggs.

What's your favourite dish?

Lamb curry with mushroom pilau, garlic naan and poppadoms – so I love events with a Bollywood theme.

And a drink to go with it?

A cool glass of Cobra.

Your favourite restaurant in the Sheffield area?

David and Pauline Baldwin have cooked for me all my life and I still love Baldwin's Omega.

And pub?

I love the family atmosphere that the guys have created at the Waggon & Horses in Millhouses.

What's the worst meal you've ever had?

Without hesitation it's the meals I make for myself. The meat is usually dry, the vegetables overcooked, the gravy luke warm – plus I never manage to time it so everything is ready at the same time.

And the best?

I had lobster thermidor once, overlooking a beach in Australia, with one of my best friends.

Your favourite TV cook?

My nephew and I watched Jamie Oliver's shows in the Nineties and I've always enjoyed his fun-loving approach to cooking. My nephew was only a nipper then and he has grown up to be a fantastic cook.

What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?

My company is involved in events across the UK but I always love the cosmopolitan nature of Sheffield and I always consider it to be the best city in the world.
