Are you a cook?

I can cook but I don’t too often because I drive my wife Maxine mad with the mess! I love cooking Chinese and Cantonese food.

Any cooking tips?

Preparation is key to a good meal; the more you are prepared the better

Your favourite meal?

Tournedos Rossini.

And a drink to go with it?

South African red Pinotage.

Your favourite restaurant in the Sheffield area?

BB’s on Devonshire Street. It’s inexpensive, good quality food made from local produce served efficiently by their friendly staff.

And pub?

The Beehive at Harthill where it wins Camra pub of the year, year in year out. I love locally brewed real ales.

What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?

At a large local venue during a Chamber dinner. The fish wasn’t cooked and everyone sent it back. In fact it was so bad that some tables had pizza delivered in.

And the best?

Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. The food and service were second to none and we were treated as though we went every week.

Your favourite TV cook?

Rick Stein because he generally mixes food with travel – my favourite pastimes.

What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?

It gets better all the time for choice, but we could really do with a Michelin-star for that special occasion!
