Harvest will be coming home to Grimesthorpe on Sunday as local gardeners host Grow Sheffield’s annual celebration of arts and food.
This year’s Allotment Soup takes place at Grimsethorpe Allotments from noon, combining a whole range of activities.
Allotment holders will be opening up their plots and showing visitors round produce from cabbages to calaloo and potatoes to pigeon peas, as well as hosting workshops throughout the day.
Art on show will include paintings and photographs, but also circus performers, musicians, poets and storytellers.
And alongside children’s entertainment will be various food-related attractions, including apple pressing, seed bombs – and soup.
The family event, themed Partners in Grime, aims to encourage a greater interest in allotments and food growing and to promote community interaction.
The fun starts at noon, with an afternoon trail and activities, followed from 6-8pm – weather permitting – with entertainment around the fire.
