MORE than 60 students of Birkdale School in Broomhill are involved in a production this week of Guys and Dolls.

They have become actors, singers, dancers, musicians, sound and lighting technicians and stage hands for the musical set in New York and featuring songs such as Luck Be a Lady and Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.

Director of Drama Keeley McDonnell said: “With this being one of the shortest academic terms putting on Guys and Dolls was always going to be a challenge. I adore putting on musicals as it is so much fun but is never an easy thing to do.

“The students never cease to amaze me with their determination and motivation to make the show a success. I really couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved, it has been a pleasure.”

Nathan Detroit is played by Sam Oliver and Adelaide by Lucy Grant. Director of Music is Adrian Jordan.

After 11 weeks of rehearsals, the production started on Tuesday and ends tonight (Thursday).
