Heaven 17 join Dave Kilner tribute night

SHEFFIELD synthpop band Heaven 17 have announced they will be joining the line-up for next month's tribute concert in memory of former radio presenter Dave Kilner.

The trio of Martyn Ware, Ian Craig Marsh and Glenn Gregory will perform at 'Dave Kilner – A Night to Remember' at Sheffield City Hall on April 30.

The event has been organised by Dave's widow Shirley and his two daughters Rebecca and Nicola and will mark the launch of a charity to help local disadvantaged children.

Heaven 17 performed at the Magna centre last weekend, playing their debut album, Penthouse and Pavement, on its 30th anniversary.

Also confirmed for the City Hall concert so far are Joe Elliot and Rick Savage from Def Leppard, singers Tony Christieand John Parr and impressionist/comedian Jon Culshaw.

Shirley said: "We are currently talking to other big names from the city and are very confident of making further announcements in the coming weeks about additional acts joining the line-up."

Dave Kilner, who died aged 48, was as a DJ with Radio Hallam, Hallam FM, Magic AM and Peak FM and became fundraising manager for the Help a Hallam Child charity. Tickets for the City Hall concert cost 25 and 30.
