Helping bats home to roost
ENDANGERED bats are being encouraged to roost on the site of a Sheffield engineering firm.
The protected Pipistrelle bats are the most commonly found species of bat in Sheffield but have suffered a 70 per cent decline in recent years.
Now in a bid to get them roosting safely in the city, engineering firm Forgemasters in partnership with Sheffield Wildlife Trust has agreed to install a number of bat boxes around its Brightside Lane site.
Volunteers will be scaling the trees alongside the River Don on Thursday March 27 to position the boxes.
