Homes evacuated after a gas leak
TWO homes were evacuated after a gas leak at an empty house in Sheffield.
Residents either side of the property on Lindsay Avenue, Parson Cross, were ordered out after the alarm was raised on Saturday, at 10.30pm.
A fire spokesman said no-one was at home and crews isolated the supply, ventilated the house and called the gas board who shut off the supply.
Bins are set alight
POLICE want help in tracing arsonists responsible for starting two bin fires on the same night.
Officers are appealing for information from Barrow Hill residents after wheelie bins were set alight on Monday on Romford Way at 10pm and Chigwell Way at 11.40pm.
Anyone with information is asked to call Derbyshire Police on 101.
Chopper in action
SOUTH Yorkshire Police’s helicopter crew spotted a metal thief in action in a garden in Kimberworth, Rotherham, and directed officers on the ground to the man.
Two suspects were arrested.
