Circus of Horrors, Sheffield City , Wedding Proposal, live on stage

STEVE Booth had always promised his girlfriend that when he proposed it would ‘have to be totally crazy’ - and he lived up to expectations when popping the question live on stage at Sheffield City Hall.

The 35-year-old secretly arranged for his girlfriend Becki Waterhouse, aged 25, to be picked from the audience for audience participation during Circus of Horrors.

After Becki had taken part in a magic trick, Steve got down on one knee on stage and told her: ‘If you don’t say yes, Circus of Horrors have said they will chop your head off!’

Steve, who works for the NHS, and met Becki while they were both working at Kennedy’s Solicitors in Sheffield, said: “She looked as if she was about to burst into tears. “It couldn’t have been more magical. The audience reaction was amazing. People came up congratulating us in the interval and wanting to look at the ring.”

Becki said: “Circus of Horrors is part of our relationship now. We’re planning the wedding by 2015 at the latest - and maybe we’ll ask if they will perform at the wedding.”
