How about these for green kit bags?
THERE is no escaping the debate on plastic carrier bags and it seems Sheffield people from all walks of life are doing their bit to help.
These soldiers are the latest out of scores of Sheffielders to try out re-usable Charibags, which raise cash for charity as well as helping the environment.
More than 27,000 has been raised for good causes in the city including the Children's Hospital, schools, St Luke's Hospice and the flood appeal since Charibags was launched last year.
The heavy-duty re-usable shoppers – emblazoned with the slogan Sheffielders Care – are designed to appeal to local pride and social conscience and even come with a reflective print to improve road safety.
Single-use plastic bags have an average lifespan of just 20 minutes before being dumped and most end up in landfill where they can take up to 1,000 years to rot.
Charibags, which include a donation to Sheffield Children's Hospital, are available from The Star Shop on York Street, Sheffield.
