ENVIRONMENT WEEKS

Shepherd Wheel: see the working waterwheel and machinery, Whiteley Woods, off Hangingwater Road, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 10am to 4pm.

Sheffield RSPB Local Group Open Day: includes the sale of plants, and refreshments, bird food and RSPB goods.and displays illustrating birds and conservation, Botanical Gardens, Clarkehouse Road, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 11am to 4pm.

Grand litter pick through Shirtcliffe Valley: organised by Friends of Shirtcliffe, Saturday, , 1pm-3pm, meet At Schubert Bridge entrance to the woods, Beaver Hill Road, just below an opposite the SY Fire Brigade Training Centre.

Hear the Dawn Chorus: walk on Wharncliffe Heath and the surrounding woodland with ornithologist Andrew Hill, organised by Wharncliffe Heathlands Trust, Sunday, 4:30am until 8:30am meet At River Don bridge on Station Road, Deepcar (next to the Lowood Club).

Wortley Top Forge Open Day: three early waterwheels and two iron forging hammers, Forge Lane, Thurgoland, Sunday, 11am-5pm (free).

Wortley Hall Walled Garden Open Day: explore the past and present of the walled garden managed as an organic kitchen garden by Heeley City Farm, coincides with plant fair, Wortley Hall, Monday, 10am until 4pm.

Volunteering Session: gain experience of food growing and gardening and learn new skills from the Heeley City Farm team, Meersbrook Walled Garden, Meersbrook Park, Monday, 10:30am until 3pm.
