Charity concert: The Wanted get ready to light the way to Christmas.

SCREAMING Sheffield fans must have shown these superstar boyband members how much they are Wanted in the city.

For after a packed gig at the Motorpoint Arena earlier this year, chart-toppers The Wanted are heading back to see their Steel City fans.

The British and Irish band - who hit number one with their debut single All Time Low - are headlining the Christmas light switch-on charity concert at Meadowhall shopping centre this year.

Organisers announced the coup ahead of the mall gig on Thursday, November 8, which will boost the charity behind Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

And music-lovers should keep their eyes peeled as more ‘must see’ artists who will help make the event shine are to be revealed in the coming week.

Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, said: “The Meadowhall light switch-on concerts have built a reputation for bringing the biggest and best artists to the region, and this year is no different.

“We’re delighted to welcome The Wanted to Meadowhall for our 2012 Christmas Light Switch-On and look forward to announcing further artists for the evening in due course.”

Last year’s switch-on at Meadowhall saw Matt Cardle, winner of the X Factor, headline the popular concert alongside Tinchy Strider, N-Dubz and others.

Thousands of people turn out to see the centre light up every year, and last year crowds swelled to 10,000.

The event is organised in conjunction with Capital FM radio station and will be hosted by presenters Hirsty, Danny and JoJo.

Money raised will help Sheffield Children’s Hospital which has launched a £20 million fundraising campaign to transform the facility.

JoJo said: “We are proud to be involved in this year’s light switch-on at Meadowhall.

“And we suspect The Wanted are going to cause some serious attention!”

Tickets for the event are on sale now.

They cost £2.50 with part of the proceeds going to The Children’s Hospital Charity and Help A Capital Child which supports Teenage Cancer Trust Units across Yorkshire.

Tickets are available to fans aged eight and above, and are restricted to four per person.
