Rotherham landlord fined over condition of properties
Kassim Kurbanali pleaded guilty to three offences relating to properties that he owned and rented out in Brinsworth and Wales.
Rotherham Council received complaints from tenants living in the properties and identified a number of hazards including a defective boiler, damp, mould, damaged roofing and a leaking toilet.

Hide AdEnforcement action was taken against the landlord and formal Improvement Notices were served but the landlord failed to carry out the repairs.
The council prosecuted Mr Kurbanali for failing to comply with the Improvement Notices and he was fined £1,400 with £678.28 costs.
Rotherham Council’s assistant director for community safety and streetscene, Karen Hanson, said: “Many private sector landlords take their responsibilities seriously and provide good quality accommodation to Rotherham resident. “However, this prosecution sends out a very strong and clear message to private sector landlords, that Rotherham Council will not tolerate the provision of sub-standard housing.”
